Cape of Good Hope and Simonstown (Sept 6, 2014)

This post is again playing catch-up from our time in Cape Town. We arrived on Friday, September 5. We had a long day--we took a taxi at 5a.m. from Siteki to Manzini (1 hour). Then we took a bus at 7a.m. from Manzini, Swaziland to Johannesburg airport (5 hours). Our flight to Cape Town left at 3p.m. and it was a 2 hour flight. We finally got to Cape Town about 5:30 in the evening. We rented a car and made it to our nice little B&B in Camps Bay without too much difficulty. The nice owner suggested we eat at The Codfather for dinner, which was just a short (and safe!) walk from our B&B. It was a great restaurant, where they have no menus, but rather you choose your seafood from the counter and then they will prepare it.

The next morning we took off for Haut Bay, Chapman's Peak, Cape Point/Cape of Good Hope, and then on to Simons Town to see the famous African penguins. Angie was so smart (well, I guess credit goes to her husband) and had downloaded a free app on her iPhone that is a navigation system. It runs off of the GPS signal and not cell phone service, so we had a reliable navigation system during our entire trip. Genius! I never would have thought of that. It is called "Sygic" for those interested. It even has reliable maps for Swaziland!

And we're off!

Arriving into Cape Town at sunset.

Our first evening in Cape Town. We went to The Codfather in Camps Bay, South Africa. The food was incredible--you chose your fresh seafood from the counter and then they cooked it for you.
